PIONEER IN ASIAN FOOD

Gendai was born in 92, the first Japanese restaurant to reach people outside of São Paulo’s downtown. Today Gendai is in one of the biggest Brazilian franchising of Asian food.

HARD TO FOLLOW, HARD TO BUY

PROBLEMS

On the first screen, we can find a couple of buttons for the user to choose what kind of service he/she needs (delivery or restaurant location). However, both don’t lead anywhere and show the same message of error. The user must have to pay attention and click on the button that says ‘Continue’ for full access to the food menus and the shopping cart.

The drop-down menu is complex for newcomers customers and visually not attractive, increasing the user’s time to learn how to order.

By clicking on the shopping cart, the user must confirm the address and review the order. The next page asks to verify the e-mail address and then to an another registration form.

I identified an opportunity to update the website with a new design and improving the menu for orders more efficiently by decreasing the number of steps.

MODERN, SIMPLE AND FAST

DESIGN

How can we improve the user flow inside the website? The idea is to throw away the first screen leading the users directly to the food menu, and now they have only to decide what to eat. For the other information, address delivery, credit card number will be on the checkout page.

CONCLUSION

Making simple is one of the bases of UX Design. The project’s main goal was to improve the menus for order food quickly and accessible. But, the biggest issue was on the checkout pages, with all the form fields and the steps that users had to follow. I came with a solution assembling all those field forms on one single page to solve that problem. And that solution decreases the number of clicks and pages by 67%.
